In the middle of August 2007 I have attempted a weekend climb of Tyndall. The climb was not successful since I had to abort due to bad weather (two days of storms). Of note is the Anvil camp - a bunch of trees in the distance seen on few pictures. There are few places you can camp before Anvil camp - of interest if you are traveling with older people. The Anvil camp has plenty of good camping and should be very pleasant to stay over. About mile up the trail there is another camping spot. Beyond that you have to pass the Sheppard pass and camp by the lake. No more trees at the 12000ft. Camping by the lake is great. There are few great camping spots and lake water is clear. From the lake camp it is about 1mile to Tyndall. From the pass to another shaded by the tree camp site is about 3miles down the trail. As for the approach to the trail parking lot the road is rough. You may think that your regular car will not make it. However, with few rough spots the road is fine. At about half a dozen spots you need to be very careful - someone killed a fuel line on a rock.
